Export Control License

Most goods not covered under the International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR) are subject to regulations under the EAR – The Export Administration Regulation.  The EAR is governed by the Department of Commerce, which is the agency that issues export licenses if they are required.  FD Associates can help you determine whether or not your product needs a Commerce license.

Electronic Licensing System

If your product needs export compliance licensing, we can direct you to the EAR's electronic system:  SNAP-R.  By using SNAP-R you can fill in your application right online and track its status on an ongoing basis.

Classification of your Exporting Products

Sometimes the classification of an export product is simple and straightforward, but other times it can be very difficult to make the distinction between ITAR and EAR.  FD Associates is an ITAR and EAR expert and we're here to help you launch your business or new product under the correct jurisdiction.  First, you must make sure that your product does not fit under the U.S. Munitions List.

Once this has been decided, the first step in the export control licensing process is to determine your Export Control Classification Number (ECCN).  In a more difficult case where we cannot make the decision on our own, FD Associates will complete the necessary form to request that the Commerce Department make the correct classification.

You need to know your product's Schedule-B number.  The Schedule-B number consists of a 6-digit number which is assigned to internationally traded documents through the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), along with an additional 4-digit number assigned by each country.  The resulting 10-digit number is your Schedule-B number and it isn't always easy to determine which one is correct for your product.  FD Associates is here to help you make these determinations for your business.

Protect your Business with an Exporting License

To prevent yourself from receiving unnecessary fines and penalties, your exporting business must be properly licensed.  The regulations enforced by the United States government can be confusing for someone trying to decipher proper meanings and compulsory measures on their own.  FD Associates has 20 years of experience dealing with companies just like yours.  We can help you obtain the proper exporting license to ensure that your business runs smoothly on a day-to-day basis.
